Philosophy

I believe that therapy is a catalyst in getting to know ourselves. By becoming more aware, courageous, resilient and compassionate, we can improve our lives and have a positive impact on those around us.

Approach

I am an integrative therapist, however I draw on specific ideas to help us make sense of what’s troubling you at the moment. I use psychodynamic theories to understand ways in which people relate to each other. I offer a warm and supportive environment where we can explore your issues in a collaborative and non-judgemental way. The sessions are confidential and my aim is to make you feel safe to speak about anything that you wish to address.

I am also trained in humanistic and cognitive behavioural therapies. I prefer the third wave approaches like Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy or Schema Therapy. All of the above offer a whole range of tools, which we can explore together to help you through any challenges.

Motivation

My aim as a therapist is to help you through any challenges. This can be something that has been troubling you for most of your life or something more current and not necessarily long standing. I always feel privileged that clients choose to share with me their stories and I admire anyone’s courage to do so. I’m here to help you with feeling stuck, anxiety or loss amongst many. Whatever it may be, we will together look at any unhelpful coping strategies and challenge negative thinking as well as looking at how to maintain a healthy, positive change.

About Me

I am a Counselling Psychologist and have been working in the health profession for the majority of my adult life. I qualified in 2013 and worked as a counsellor for 4 years prior to that. With over 10 years of experience working for the NHS, in private practice as well as for non-profit organisations, I believe that I am able to provide support for a range of individuals in various different settings.

My areas of expertise include working with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, physical and emotional abuse, addictions and many other. I have always been interested in ways people adapt in transitional periods of their lives.  I have conducted research on adjustment to long-term illness and also on the effects of attachment in romantic relationships.
