Dr John O'Connor
Clinical Psychologist
I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years post-qualification experience who is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. I identify and treat psychological problems across the entire spectrum with particular expertise in depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions and work/relationship issues.

My practice is informed by a range of evidence-based therapeutic models including CBT, DBT and solution-focused approaches to clients' presenting difficulties. I have a special interest in Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) and am passionate about identifying and acknowledging clients' personal values and character strengths as tools in the therapeutic process

Experience
I completed clinical training in East London under the supervision of Prof Mary Boyle and have worked in a variety of NHS settings including Great Ormond St Hospital and Ealing Primary Care Trust. My Doctoral research explored the diagnosis of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and was completed at The Institute of Psychotrauma in London. In 2008 I was appointed at Consultant level by The Ministry of Defence to lead the provision of mental health services in the UK and Germany. I am also widely recognised as an Expert Witness and have conducted many assessments for the courts.
