Clare Taylor

Hi, I’m Clare a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with many years’ experience of working therapeutically with people going through difficulties with their mental health. My approach is collaborative and empathic, working alongside people to explore their individual experiences to develop a shared understanding, so we can draw on the most helpful cognitive-behavioural tools and techniques to work towards personal goals. During therapy it is often important to make sense of how emotional and psychological difficulties may have arisen, but the primary focus of CBT is on what might be keeping problems going in the here and now. I work with people to identify the thinking patterns, coping strategies or contextual factors that may be part of this and aim to support them make helpful and lasting changes.

I can offer CBT designed to help with a range of mental health difficulties including depression, low self-esteem, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias and trauma.

Alongside independent practice I am a CBT therapist for an NHS Psychological Therapies service. Prior to this I had a long career working as an Occupational Therapist across a broad range of NHS adult mental health services and most recently for an Autism and ADHD specialist service. The various roles I have held always aim to support people to live meaningful lives through managing or overcoming challenges and focusing on strengths. With additional training in systemic family therapy and sensory considerations, I can draw on a wide range of skills and experience to offer a holistic, person-centered approach to CBT therapy.
