Carolina Jacome-Steffens
Counsellor & Sand-Play Therapist
I am a qualified and experienced therapist with over 20 years of practice supporting adults, young people, and children through a wide range of life challenges. My work is rooted in the belief that therapy should be a safe, supportive space where you can feel understood and find new ways forward.
I offer counselling in English and Spanish and bring an integrative approach that combines talking therapy with creative and body-based methods - especially
valuable when words alone are not enough.

Over the years I have seen how important it is to meet each person where they are. For adults, this may mean addressing stress, burnout, trauma, or relationship struggles. For
children and young people, it may involve helping them find safe ways to express emotions, manage anxiety, or navigate behavioural challenges. I aim to provide an environment where both adults and children can feel contained, supported, and empowered to heal.

My therapeutic practice draws on:
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS): A powerful and compassionate model that helps you explore the different “parts” of yourself - such as the part that worries, the part that avoids conflict, or the part that feels hurt. By developing a deeper connection with these parts, you can access your calm and compassionate inner Self, which promotes healing, balance, and lasting change.
-
Sand-Play Therapy: A creative, non-verbal approach where clients use sand and miniature figures to give shape to inner experiences that may be hard to express in words. This process can gently unlock hidden emotions, bring clarity to complex situations, and support healing from trauma, grief, or long-standing struggles. It is a highly effective method for both adults and children.
-
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT): Also known as “tapping,” EFT combines gentle physical tapping with focused awareness to reduce stress, release emotional intensity, and support healing. It can be particularly effective for anxiety, phobias, trauma responses, and even physical symptoms connected to emotional distress.
-
Mindfulness Practices: Simple but powerful tools for becoming more present, grounded, and resilient in everyday life. Mindfulness helps manage stress, reduce rumination, and increase emotional regulation, allowing for greater calm and clarity.
-
Bach Remedies: Gentle, natural flower-based remedies that support emotional wellbeing and balance. Used alongside therapy, they can provide additional support in reducing anxiety, restoring calm, and complementing the therapeutic process.
