Dr Sohini  Shah

Satelite Clinical Psychologist

Hello, my name is Dr Sohini Shah and I am a Clinical Psychologist. I offer face to face therapy sessions with children and young people. Through my training as a Clinical Psychologist, I can provide Evidence Based therapeutic interventions for a range of presentations.

I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting and I value being able to offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where young people are met with compassion and warmth.

The difficulties I work with include:

  • General Anxiety

  • Panic

  • Agoraphobia

  • Social Anxiety

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Specific Phobias

  • Health Anxiety

  • Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Low mood and depression

  • Trichotillomania

  • Tics and Tourette’s

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Low self-esteem

  • Sleep difficulties

I have experience in working with clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and make suitable adaptations to therapy for individual needs.

I primarily practice using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach and am also trained in using other approaches such as the following:

  • Eye movement desensitisation therapy (EMDR)

  • Cognitive Behavioural therapy with Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Compassion focused therapy (CFT)

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

  • Solution focused therapy (SFT)

  • Systemic approaches

  • Mindfulness based approaches

  • Behavioural Therapy

I am able to adapt my therapeutic approach flexibly, to consider the evidence base and you/your child’s unique needs and hopes.

Over the course of my 11 year career, I have supported children, adults and older adults in a range of presenting mental health difficulties. My work has included providing individualised in-depth assessments, formulation and evidence- based therapeutic interventions.

I have worked in a range of settings including Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Adolescent Outreach teams, the specialist service in Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Children's' Eating Disorder services, Improving Access to Therapies (IAPT), Older Adults Community Services and the Maudsley Clinic for adults with ADHD and Specialist Diagnostic services for individuals with Autism.

In addition to my direct clinical work, I have experience providing consultation to colleagues and clinical supervision to qualified Clinical Psychologists, trainee clinical psychologists, CBT trainees and Assistant Psychologists in the NHS.
