Karen Telling

Speech and Language Therapist and Autism Specialist

Karen Telling qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2003 from City University, London, and has experience working across both the NHS and the private sector.  Karen has dedicated her career to supporting neurodivergent children and young people in both clinical and educational settings. Karen is an experienced ADOS and ADI-R clinician and has worked extensively in community and tertiary NHS diagnostic teams and in the private sector. This work has included a focus on the identification and support of mental health difficulties experienced by neurodivergent children and young people. Within these roles, Karen has developed a passion for working collaboratively with other professionals to coordinate and deliver post diagnostic support and psycho-education opportunities for families and their children and young people.

Karen’s specialist skills and experience has equipped her to provide comprehensive treatment plans using wide ranging therapy tools to support children and young people’s communication, independence, and emotional well-being.   Karen also has a special interest in delivering the evidence-based PACT treatment (Paediatric Autism Communication Therapy) for families of young children with Autism and/or

social communication differences.

Karen is dedicated to working within a strong multi-disciplinary team to ensure that a child or young person’s care is managed holistically, with that their well-being being is central to their intervention.  Karen accesses opportunity to extend her professional development on a regular basis, striving to ensure children and families receive robust, evidence informed advice and treatment. Karen currently divides her time working in both private practice and within a CAMHS neurodevelopmental assessment Team. She is a member of the Health and Care Professions Council and a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy.
