Jo Morton-Bye

Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

I am a BABCP accredited cognitive behavioural therapist and registered social worker with over ten years’ experience of working with adults, children, adolescents, and families to address emotional and/or behavioural difficulties and optimise their wellbeing. I aim to provide a collaborative and confidential space in which individuals/families can develop a shared understanding of their difficulties and build on their strengths to achieve their desired goals. I have previously supported individuals impacted by difficulties including low mood, depression, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, panic, health anxiety, low self-esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

I am trained to work with people of all ages as a CBT therapist and I tailor my approach to the needs and/or preferences of the individual or family. I also have an interest in neurodiversity and am accustomed to adapting my therapeutic approach to individual need. I have undertaken additional training in Mentalization-based therapy and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET). Working with ‘care experienced’ individuals and their networks is another area of speciality, and I have presented guest lectures at Oxford Brookes University and Ruskin College on subjects including attachment and trauma.

I currently hold a part-time clinical post in the NHS and have previously managed and supervised professionals in the NHS and a Local Authority setting.
