Family Relationship Difficulties

Managing relationships within a family dynamic can be difficult, this may be disagreements between a couple, attempts to resolve family arguments, or issues related to communication.

Depending on the stage of the family lifecycle, there are various family transitions that can create tension or may be difficult to manage. Young parents may find it hard to mediate their different approaches to parenting or to set boundaries with their children, while parents of older children may struggle with readjusting to their children growing up and leaving home.

Different stages in life and individual personalities contribute to the complex family dynamic, where each person may react differently to relationship difficulties. For example, one individual may react to tension, conflict, or disagreements with arguments and shouting, while another individual may resort to withdrawal and silent treatment.

Family therapy can help with facilitating communication and easing tensions between members of the family.
